The Ryan Robinson band has been playing on Maui for 7 years. The band’s lead vocalist, guitarist and director, Ryan writes most of the bands original material; his typical influences are John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, and Ray Charles.
Ryan grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia playing guitar, but did not start performing live until he was a ski instructor in Park City, Utah. Before he moved to Maui he was deep into the music scene and became well known for his artistic nuances.
Ryan formed his current band with drummer Ian Holllingsworth who has been giging on Maui for 15 years with local band such as The Throdowns and The Howard Ahia Band. Bassist David Wolfberg. “Wolf”, joined the band shortly after its conception. Growing up playing music in various bands. He cultivated his talent through dedicated hours of study at Tufts University School of Music.
The band’s horn section is highly accomplished as well. Marshall Scott, the bands alto sax player performs across the U.S. at various venues, but still makes time to venture to Maui when they record. Likewise Jesse Steele, the bands trumpet player, is getting his masters in music eduction, but still takes time to reunite when possible. Jesse co-wrote the song “Easy Living” on the band’s debut album.
Toby Couture, the keyboard player, is a recent graduate of the prestigious Purchase School of Music in New York City . He is a multi-talented musician; a classically trained guitarist as well as bass guitarist and drummer. He co-wrote the music on the song “Someday” on the bands first album.
Ryan Robinson and Wolf also perform as a duet and Ryan can be booked as an acoustic solo as well.
Ryan keeps the audience entertained with his original styling and distinct vocals. Always the consummate professional. Ryan performs a vast array of music genres.
